The House had earlier lost four members in 2024, including Ekene Adams from Kaduna, Isa Dogonyaro from Jigawa, and Olaide Akinremi from Oyo, while Oriyomi Onanuga passed away in 2025.
In response to these vacancies, the Independent National Electoral Commission conducted bye elections across the affected states in August. The All Progressives Congress won four of the five contested seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party secured one.

Those sworn in include Omosede Igbinedion representing Ovia South, Ovia West, and Ovia North East Federal Constituency of Edo State.
Others are Joseph Bagudu representing Chikun and Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State and Mukhtar Rabiu representing Garki and Babura Federal Constituency in Jigawa State.

However, two newly elected lawmakers, Elegbeji Ayola from Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State and Oyekunle Sunday from Ibadan North Federal Constituency in Oyo State, were absent from the ceremony. No official reason was provided for their absence.
Among the five newly elected lawmakers, Oyekunle Sunday is the only representative from the Peoples Democratic Party. The remaining four lawmakers are members of the All Progressives Congress, strengthening the ruling party’s majority in the House.
The Speaker congratulated the new members and urged them to serve with integrity and commitment to national development.
