“I have elders at home as well, and I understand the struggles they face as they age, especially regarding their health. That’s why I chose to spend my birthday here at Thani Oladunjoye Old People Center. There is no better way to celebrate than with the people of Epe who need our care and support,” Subair stated during an interview.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, she also extended appreciation to Mr. Tunde Thani, the Founder of the center, for his selfless dedication to elderly care. She encouraged others to contribute to the initiative, stressing the importance of collective efforts in supporting the vulnerable.
“This is an amazing place, and I encourage everyone to contribute. There is no greater joy than helping those who need us the most. If you can, no matter how little, this is a place where your support can make a real difference,” she urged.
Reacting to the donation, Mr. Tunde Thani lauded Subair’s generosity, noting the significant impact of such acts of kindness. He recalled a similar occasion when Hon. Abiodun Tobun celebrated his 60th birthday with the elderly at the center.
“It’s truly incredible when someone decides to celebrate not with a lavish party but by giving back to the elderly. The joy on their faces, the renewed energy—it’s therapeutic for them. Moments like these show that we are not forgotten,” Thani remarked.
Reflecting on the facility’s three years of success, Thani attributed its progress to divine grace and the generosity of donors. He highlighted the high costs associated with running the center, including medical consultations, staff salaries, free medications, and specialist care.
“Am I tired? Absolutely not! This initiative isn’t mine; it’s God’s work. If it were mine, I would have given up already. But seeing the lives we touch keeps us going,” he affirmed.
Thani further disclosed that the latest medication donation, valued at two million Naira, was sourced directly from manufacturers, ensuring quality healthcare for the elderly. He expressed gratitude that no fatalities had been recorded at the center, and that previous eye surgeries had yielded positive results.
Speaking to donors, Thani provided insights into the center’s operations, detailing its structured activities.
“We run general clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays, optometry services on Wednesdays, and physiotherapy sessions on Fridays. We also organize social activities to keep our elders engaged. Their well-being is our top priority,” he explained.

“Seeing my daughter do this fills me with immense pride. It’s been 16 years since my husband passed, and I know he would be proud to see our family giving back in this way,” she said tearfully.
