The struggle to restore electricity had been an arduous journey for the residents. Initially, they raised funds for transformer maintenance, but when the old transformer broke down completely, they pooled resources to purchase a new one.
Despite their best efforts, the financial burden became overwhelming, leaving them in darkness for an extended period.
Relief finally came through the relentless intervention of Hon. Ogunkelu Sylvester Oluwadahunsi, the Lagos State House of Assembly representative for Epe Constituency II.
His efforts played a crucial role in securing and energizing the new transformer, bringing much-needed power back to the community.
The restoration of electricity was met with overwhelming joy and gratitude. Many residents gathered to celebrate, relieved that their long period of suffering had finally ended.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr. Adewale Olufemi, a business owner, expressed his excitement:
“This is a great relief for all of us. We have lived in darkness for too long, struggling to keep our businesses running and our families comfortable. We sincerely appreciate Hon. Ogunkelu for his unwavering commitment to ensuring that we are no longer in the dark.”
Another resident, Mrs. Folashade Ajayi, highlighted the impact of the power restoration on education:
“Our children have suffered greatly due to the lack of electricity. Studying at night was impossible, and schools had to rely on costly alternative power sources. Now, things will be much better, and we can finally move forward as a community.”

Hon. Ogunkelu, whose intervention was instrumental in resolving the crisis, reassured the community of his continuous support:
“I understand the struggles you have faced in the past two years, and I saw it as my duty to ensure that this issue was resolved. No community should be left without electricity for this long.
I appreciate the resilience and patience of the residents, and I assure you that more infrastructural developments will come your way.”
With electricity finally restored, residents are optimistic about economic recovery and improved living conditions. Many businesses that had shut down due to the blackout are expected to reopen, while students can now study comfortably at night.
