Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the lives of residents through purposeful governance.
Speaking at the Eid-el-Fitr celebration organized by the First Family of Lagos State and the Ministry of Home Affairs at Lagos House, Marina, the Governor expressed gratitude to the Muslim community for their unwavering support. Themed ‘My Lord, Indeed I Am, for Whatever Good You Would Send Me in Need,’ the event underscored the significance of faith and unity.

“I appreciate your presence as we celebrate together. We thank our Muslim brothers and sisters for their continued trust in our government. May Almighty God keep us in peace and unity,” Sanwo-Olu said. “With the support of our religious leaders, we will continue delivering governance that positively impacts your lives. By God’s grace, we will celebrate many more Eid-el-Fitr festivals together.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also urged prospective pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj to prioritize their health before embarking on the journey.
“By May, pilgrims will begin their journey to Mecca. We pray for their safe travels. However, I appeal to those with health challenges to reconsider undertaking the 2025 Hajj,” he advised.

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, in his remarks, encouraged residents to remain grateful for growth, rebirth, and the collective development of Lagos State following Ramadan.
He urged Muslim faithful to exhibit kindness and compassion. “Show empathy, be good to your neighbors, and continue to have faith in Almighty Allah’s goodness,” he said.
In her welcome address, First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, called on residents to support the less privileged.
“As we celebrate, let us remember those in need, extend a helping hand, and uphold the spirit of giving and sharing in our daily lives. True worship is reflected in our treatment of others and our contributions to the state and nation,” she emphasized.
Delivering the keynote lecture titled ‘My Lord, Indeed I Am, for Whatever Good You Would Send Me in Need’ (Q28:24), Dr. Munirudeen Ar-Riyardy from Lagos State University of Education, Oto/Ijanikin, highlighted the importance of faith during life’s challenges.
“No matter the trials we face, we must remain steadfast and avoid actions that distance us from Almighty Allah’s grace,” he cautioned.
In his vote of thanks, Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Layode, urged Muslims to uphold Islamic teachings in their daily lives.
The event was graced by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat; former Deputy Governor, Senator Oluranti Adebule; Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro; Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde; members of the Lagos State Executive Council; top government officials; Grand Imam of Lagos, Shaykh Suliamon Abu-Nolla; Chief Imams of Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, and Epe divisions; as well as political and traditional leaders.
