The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to providing quality healthcare by commissioning two upgraded Pharmagrade warehouses at the Lagos State Medical Store (LSMS) in Oshodi.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the state-of-the-art facilities, unveiled on January 30, 2025, aim to significantly enhance the storage and distribution of essential medicines, ensuring efficiency, safety, and accessibility for the residents of Lagos.

During the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, emphasized the importance of the project as a vital step in strengthening Lagos’ healthcare supply chain.
She mentioned that Lagos was among 21 states selected by the National Product Supply Chain Management Program (NPSCMP) for infrastructural upgrades under the Resilient and Sustainable System for Health (RSSH) Grant II, funded by the Global Fund and facilitated through UNICEF.
Dr. Ogunyemi also noted that the collaboration between the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Partnership for Transforming Health Systems II (PATHS2), and private suppliers of medicines and consumables aims to promote transparency, accountability, and professionalism in the procurement and delivery of high-quality health commodities.

“Lagos State has always been at the forefront of healthcare innovation, and today’s commissioning reaffirms our commitment to ensuring that all medicines and medical supplies in our care remain potent, secure, and readily available,” Dr. Ogunyemi stated.
She highlighted that the upgraded Pharmagrade warehouses are equipped with state-of-the-art features to meet national standards and ensure optimal storage conditions for essential medicines.
These features include temperature control systems, drug analysis laboratories, cold rooms, inventory management technologies, alternative power sources, and advanced security systems.

She also acknowledged the contributions of various partners, stakeholders, and healthcare professionals who helped bring the project to fruition. Ogunyemi emphasized that their support played a vital role in making the commissioning a success.
In addition, she noted that the Lagos State Government provided 15% counterpart funding for the upgrade, demonstrating its strong ownership and dedication to achieving long-term improvements in the healthcare sector.
