EKO HOT BLOG reports that Forbes credited Musk’s latest surge to a 23% spike in Tesla’s share value, largely driven by anticipation around the company’s forthcoming robotaxi launch. His resignation from a controversial government advisory position also contributed to renewed investor confidence. The report noted that these factors “further cemented Musk’s status as the world’s wealthiest person by far.”
Zuckerberg Overtakes Bezos for Second Place
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg climbed to the second position with a fortune of $224 billion after an 18% rise in Meta stock. He moved past Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, who now sits at third with $220 billion. Despite Amazon shares gaining 11%—adding $19 billion to Bezos’ wealth—the jump wasn’t enough to hold his previous spot.
Tech Billionaires Dominate Top 10
The broader tech sector saw significant gains in May, with the Nasdaq up 10% and the S&P 500 climbing 6%, driven by strong earnings, improving U.S. consumer confidence, and easing global trade concerns.
Oracle’s Larry Ellison retained the fourth position with $206 billion. Warren Buffett dropped to fifth, losing $9 billion after Berkshire Hathaway shares fell by 5%. His wealth now stands at $158 billion following his announcement to step down as CEO.
French luxury magnate Bernard Arnault fell to sixth place with $144 billion, down $3 billion due to a dip in LVMH stock.
Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are seventh and eighth on the list with $142 billion and $136 billion, respectively. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer jumped to ninth, reaching $133 billion after Microsoft shares rose by 16%, boosting his wealth by $15 billion.
Completing the top 10 is Spanish fashion mogul Amancio Ortega of Inditex (Zara), with $124 billion after a modest $600 million increase.
