Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, expressed pride in the government’s achievement, emphasizing that the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s goal to support local talent, enhance skills, and create a robust creative workforce in the state.
“We are proud to announce that over 10,000 young Lagosians have been empowered with world-class training in key areas such as filmmaking, screenwriting, animation, sound design, production management, digital media, acting, and cinematography.
“This is not just about skills acquisition; it is about creating sustainable pathways for employment, entrepreneurship, and global competitiveness. Lagos is investing in people, and by doing so, we are investing in the future of our creative economy,” said Benson-Awoyinka.

The commissioner highlighted Lagos’ rapid progression as a creative powerhouse in Africa, boasting the ability to produce content that not only meets but exceeds global standards.
The initiative, she emphasized, reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s steadfast support for the creative sector, aligning with the state’s vision for economic growth through youth engagement and innovation as outlined in the THEMES Plus Development Agenda.
Programme participants are already gaining recognition both at home and abroad, Benson-Awoyinka noted. Many have secured employment, launched their businesses, or played key roles in high-impact projects across film, media, and tech industries.
In closing, the Commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to broadening the initiative’s reach.
