Our correspondent reports that on June 2nd, 2025, High Chief Adeniyi Kadri Odedeogboro was elected as the new Oba-elect in line with Epe tradition, which mandates the current Balogun to assume the throne upon the King’s passing.

To de-escalate tensions, Chairman Animashaun issued a letter suspending the installation of the new Olu-Epe indefinitely.
The suspension aims to address the growing conflict surrounding the succession process, with High Chief Kadri Odedeogboro and High Chief Iskilu Olajide Ikuforiji both vying for the monarch’s seat, despite tradition dictating that the process should be uncontested
Citing unforeseen circumstances, security concerns, and public health issues, Animashaun’s decision to halt the installation process seeks to prioritize the community’s well-being.

The Chairman also canceled upcoming events, including the Eid-I-Adha (Ileya) and Jumat service scheduled for Friday at the 1st Epe Central Mosque, Oke Balogun, and Eid Ground Street, Oke Balogun Epe, respectively, ensuring that all necessary precautions are taken during this turbulent period.

Princess Surah Animashaun reassured the parties involved and the Epe community that further updates will be communicated as the situation evolves, pending a decision from the relevant authorities.
