Supporters of Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat have rallied behind his 2027 governorship ambition, with his Epe kinsmen and party loyalists expressing appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the Governors Advisory Council (GAC) for backing his candidacy.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that, in a statement released earlier this week, the Ajiborisha Descendants of Epe, Epe Community leaders, and APC Stalwarts in IBILE, operating under the KOH2027 Movement, described Hamzat as “a visionary leader whose dedication, humility, transparency, accountability, and fear of God have continued to distinguish him in public service.”

The groups thanked Tinubu, APC national and Lagos State leaders, and GAC members for their “support, trust and belief in his multi-competencies for the governing of Lagos State,” adding that Hamzat’s “innovative and development-driven approach to governance has made him a source of inspiration and hope for many Lagosians.”

They also offered prayers for divine guidance and success in his future political aspirations, expressing confidence that he would continue to serve as an instrument of peace, progress, and transformation for Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
“We jointly present you today to our Supreme Creator to divinely crown your efforts with all it takes to make you an instrument of peace, progress, and transformation of our Lagos State in particular and Nigeria in general,” the groups said.
Hamzat hails from the Ajiborisha family in Epe, on Lagos Island’s eastern corridor.
On Thursday, he was declared the APC’s governorship candidate for 2027 after polling 657,917 votes out of 657,974 cast at the party’s primary in Ogba, Ikeja. His sole challenger, Lanre Jim-Kamal, received one vote, while a third aspirant, Samuel Ajose, withdrew before the exercise began.
The primary result formalised what had been widely anticipated. Hamzat had secured the backing of the GAC — the influential council of Lagos APC chieftains that has historically shaped the state’s political direction — and conducted formal consultations across the state in the weeks leading up to the primary.
In his acceptance speech, Hamzat unveiled a development agenda titled “My Lagos Dream,” centred on four pillars: service delivery, job creation, knowledge and skills development, and health and well-being. He pledged to govern for all Lagosians and promised continuity with the infrastructure legacy of Tinubu and successive APC administrations in the state.
