In response to the growing crisis, the council boss issued a directive halting all installation activities and urging all parties to maintain the status quo until further notice.
This directive was conveyed in an official letter addressed to the Grand Imam of Epe Division, Sheikh Abiola Sadala.
“Given the current atmosphere, it is imperative that we prioritize peace and communal harmony,” Princess Animashaun stated.
“We are calling for calm and restraint from all parties involved. The traditional institutions in Epe must reflect unity, not division.”
In a related development, the Chairman has also ordered the cancellation of this Friday’s Eid-ul-Adha (Ileya) and Jumat prayers scheduled to hold at the Epe Central Mosque and the Eid Praying Ground in Oke-Balogun.
“The safety of our people comes first,” she emphasized. “These gatherings, under the current climate, pose a security risk.
We urge all religious and traditional leaders to cooperate with the government as we work towards resolving this matter peacefully.”
Community elders and stakeholders have begun weighing in on the situation. Alhaji Musa Onanuga, a respected elder, commended the Chairman’s swift action.
