Dr. Alausa emphasized that these unapproved satellite campuses often lack the academic, strategic, and infrastructural support required for their existence.
The proliferation of such campuses risks undermining the quality and integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary education system. Consequently, institutions that establish satellite campuses without following the proper authorization processes will face strict sanctions.

“Rather than focusing on improving existing campuses, some Vice Chancellors , Rectors and Provost are diverting limited resources to set up inadequately equipped new Satellite campuses, which is counterproductive and detrimental to educational standards,” the Minister stated.
Alausa instructed regulatory agencies such as the NUC, NBTE, and NCCE to formally notify all Federal Tertiary Institutions of the new directive.
Henceforth he said no satellite campus can be established without the express approval of the Honourable Minister of Education through these regulatory agencies.
He emphasized the importance of compliance with this directive and warned that any violation would result in appropriate disciplinary measures.
Alausa said the ministry aims to ensure that every expansion within Nigeria’s tertiary education system is strategically planned, adequately resourced, and aligned with national development objectives.
