Police prosecutor ASP Luka Sadau informed the court that mosque committee members caught Usman on June 13, subsequently handing him over to the police.
“On the said date, after the conclusion of Jumaat prayers, the defendant stole shoes belonging to worshippers worth N100,000,” Sadau said.

According to him, during investigations, Usman confessed that he habitually visited the mosque during Friday prayers to steal shoes, which he later sold at Monday Market or in Maraban Rido.
“Failure to pay the compensation would attract an additional one-year imprisonment,” the court ruled.
