A 50-year-old woman, identified as Furera Ibrahim, has been beaten to death by family members over allegations of witchcraft in Kiyawa Local Government Area, Jigawa State.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at Kwarin Shiddi, Katuka Village, around 5:00 pm, according to eyewitness.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the witness said a group of about ten relatives attacked Furera after visiting a native doctor for treatment of a sick family member, Habiba.

“The natives mentioned the deceased, Furera, as a witch responsible for Habiba’s illness. They stormed her house and attacked her with machetes and sticks,” the eyewitness said.
Two of Furera’s sons were also injured while trying to protect their mother. The victims were admitted to Shekoni Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

Police spokesman SP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident, adding that the case is currently under investigation.
The Jigawa State Human Rights Network vowed to follow up on the matter until the perpetrators are brought to justice.
