Offering prayers of gratitude for the school’s progress over the past decade, he acknowledged the collective efforts of the University’s founders, leaders, benefactors, staff, students, and alumni.
In his homily, the Archbishop emphasized the essence of education as a journey to truth and spiritual awareness.
“Education is not merely about acquiring knowledge,” he said. “It is a pathway to discovering the truth about ourselves, our society, and ultimately, about God.
As St. Augustine taught, the heart is restless until it rests in God — and so should education lead us to that resting place.”
He lauded the institution’s leadership for maintaining its mission of academic excellence, moral discipline, and spiritual grounding, calling on students and staff to remain focused on shaping lives that uplift society.
The event attracted prominent dignitaries and stakeholders including members of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, University Management, faculty, parents, and guests.
Among them was Dame Doja Otedola, mother of the University’s Chancellor, Mr. Femi Otedola, who joined in the worship and celebration.
Former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Steve Afolami, who attended with his wife, Prof. Carolyn Afolami, reflected on the early years and the growth the institution has witnessed.
“To see what Augustine University has become in ten years is deeply moving,” Prof. Afolami said. “We planted the seed with faith, and today we witness the fruit of hard work, sacrifice, and divine grace.”
His wife, Prof. Carolyn Afolami, praised the University for its values-driven education.
“Here, students grow in wisdom, character, and in their relationship with God. That’s a rare gift in today’s world.”
A memorable moment of the event was the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation to 29 students, affirming the University’s commitment to spiritual development alongside academic pursuit.
The celebration later continued at the University Convocation Hall, where the 10th Anniversary Commemorative Brochure was officially unveiled. Guests offered goodwill messages, reflecting on the institution’s vision and reaffirming their support.
