The former two-time UFC Middleweight Champion was officially inducted into the Fight Wing of the UFC Hall of Fame on Thursday, June 26, 2025, during a special ceremony at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, United States. Adesanya earned this recognition for his unforgettable bout against Kelvin Gastelum in 2019, widely regarded as one of the greatest fights in UFC history.
Adesanya secured a unanimous decision victory over Gastelum at UFC 236, dropping his opponent four times in a thrilling five-round contest. His remarkable performance in that fight earned him the UFC Interim Middleweight Championship and solidified his legacy as one of the sport’s most dynamic and exciting fighters.
Other historic matchups joining Adesanya’s fight in the UFC Hall of Fame’s 2025 class include legendary bouts such as Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar, Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg II, and Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen.
Speaking in February when he first learned of the honour, Adesanya expressed surprise and gratitude. “I was surprised. I thought I was too young for the Hall of Fame, but if they want to honour me, I’ll accept it. I’m very grateful,” he said.
