The traffic congestion on the highway was due to a diversion caused by the breakdown of a heavy laddened truck, causing a gradual traffic jam build-up and later grounded movements to a halt for hours.
Although the heavy presence of security personnel quickly allayed fears and inspired a sense of safety, passengers’ worry grew louder due to the snail-like motion on the highway.
As of the time this report was being filed, the gridlock was gradually easing up, as several security personnel coordinated the flow of traffic.

However, chances are that the heavy traffick jam could last till dusk due to the severity of the gridlock on both lanes
A traveller, Mr. Idowu explained the situation saying: “we have been stuck at a spot for over 3 hours and it’s not looking like it will ease up any time soon” He said.
“This road has the highest flow of vehicular movement in the entire country, and scenes like this are very common, which is not a good thing at all…” He added.
