EKO HOT BLOG reports that the lawmaker, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, expressed her gratitude to supporters in a video shared on social media shortly after the judgment.
“I thank you for your support. I am glad we are victorious today. We shall resume in the Senate on Tuesday by the grace of God,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said, as she celebrated with supporters.
Justice Binta Nyako, who delivered the ruling on Friday, declared that the suspension, which was imposed in March, was unconstitutional, excessive, and infringed on the rights of her constituents to adequate representation.
The court ordered the immediate reinstatement of Akpoti-Uduaghan, stressing that the Senate must always operate within the limits of the Constitution.
However, the court also found the senator in contempt for violating an earlier order that prohibited public statements regarding the case. Justice Nyako slammed a ₦5 million fine on her over a Facebook post she made during the trial, where she issued a sarcastic apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The post was ruled to have contravened the court’s order issued on March 4, 2025, which barred all parties from commenting on the matter while the case was still in court.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension originated from a heated plenary in March, during which she accused Senate President Akpabio of sexual harassment, sparking significant controversy in the Red Chamber.
