The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended a notorious four-member armed robbery gang known for carrying out violent attacks and stealing vehicles in Akure, Owo, and nearby areas.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, disclosed this in Akure on Sunday during a press briefing on the Command’s achievements over the past two weeks.

Lawal explained that the suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery reported in Akure on June 27, during which a vehicle and other valuables were stolen.
“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command’s Tactical Intelligence and Response Squad (TIRS) tracked and apprehended two key suspects outside Ondo State.
“Subsequent intelligence breakthroughs led to the arrest of two additional members of the gang, including a suspected habitual receiver of stolen items.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the syndicate has been actively involved in a network specializing in car snatching and trafficking.
“So far, several stolen items, including a vehicle and several mobile devices, have been recovered.

“Investigations are ongoing to trace additional stolen property and identify other collaborators, including a suspected arms supplier currently at large,” Adebowale said.
Similarly, the Commissioner stated that the Command recovered livestock valued at N41 million, allegedly stolen by Ali Garuba Muhammed, an employee of Fasua Oyeleye.
Lawal explained that Oyeleye reported the incident on July 1, revealing that his employee had fled with 55 cattle and eight sheep and rams.
He noted that the Anti-Kidnapping unit responded swiftly and successfully recovered 22 of the stolen cows within 48 hours.
According to him, the main suspect is still on the run, and intensified efforts are underway to recover the remaining livestock and ensure his arrest.
“This operation is a testament to the capacity and responsiveness of the Police Command in Ondo State to tackle organised crime through strategic intelligence-led policing.
“The command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property and assures residents that all criminal networks operating within the state will be relentlessly pursued and dismantled,” Adebowale said.
