The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has announced that the Federal Government has officially set 16 years as the minimum age for admission into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Eko Hot Blog reports that while speaking on Tuesday at the 2025 Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja, Alausa made it clear that the age requirement is now a fixed and non-negotiable policy.

He also issued a stern warning that any admission conducted outside the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) would be deemed illegal.
