Staff of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dissolve the agency’s board over what they described as a promotion scandal.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the controversy stems from the March 2025 promotion exercise, which workers claim was carried out without proper authorisation.

Sources within the commission allege that the process lacked board approval, ministerial consent, and presidential backing.
A leaked document revealed that 239 staff were promoted, sparking accusations of favouritism and ethnic bias.
Workers insist that performance and exam scores were ignored in favour of internal connections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that tensions have escalated, with employees calling for urgent leadership change to restore credibility.
One staff member said, “We are urging President Tinubu to act now. The current board does not reflect the vision of the renewed hope agenda.”
Another employee compared the situation to the recent NNPC board overhaul, urging similar action in the telecoms sector.

Insiders claim the work environment has become toxic, with favouritism influencing official trips and opportunities.
“There’s now pressure to please certain people or lie just to progress,” a senior worker lamented.
In response, NCC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs, Nnena Ukoha, denied the allegations.
She said the promotions followed due process and were supervised by the Federal Character Commission.
Despite the official response, many employees remain unconvinced and are calling for sweeping reforms.
They warned that continued delay could worsen the agency’s internal crisis.
