The FFS, in a public statement, expressed deep regret over the accident and assured Nigerians of ongoing internal investigations to uncover the facts.
Controller General Engr. Jaji O. Abdulganiyu personally visited the bereaved family on May 11, extending condolences and offering the Service’s support.
A second visit followed on May 12, this time with FFS management and staff, to reaffirm their commitment to standing by the affected family.
The Service disclosed that it has maintained constant communication with the family and will continue to provide moral and logistical assistance.
Three personnel, the truck driver and two accompanying firefighters have been suspended from duty while investigations continue.
The internal probe began immediately after the accident, with the FFS promising full cooperation with relevant authorities to ensure justice is served.
Officials say the aim is not only to assign responsibility but to improve safety standards for future emergency operations across Nigeria.
“While we understand public concerns, we appeal for patience,” the FFS said, assuring that due process will guide every step taken in the probe.
They further stated that the Service is committed to transparency, professionalism, and accountability in handling both the incident and its aftermath.
The CG added that such tragic events are rare but must serve as reminders of the risks firefighters face and the need for improved emergency logistics.
The FFS reaffirmed its mission to protect lives and property, noting that this tragic loss has only strengthened their resolve to prevent future accidents.
The Controller also thanked Nigerians for their understanding and support, pledging that the outcome of the investigation will be made public.

“Our thoughts remain with the grieving family,” the FFS concluded, urging the public to stay calm while awaiting the final report.
