EKO HOT BLOG reports that his attendance at the meeting on Monday stirred reactions amid ongoing internal conflicts that have split the party into rival factions. Key figures at the meeting included factional National Chairman Julius Abure, National Secretary Umar Farouk, National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh, and National Youth Leader Ken Ahanotu.
Speaking at the gathering, Baba-Ahmed stressed that his mission was not to side with any group but to foster peace and unity within the Labour Party. “I am here as a peacemaker and I am also here to reconcile divergent opinions,” he stated.
He also addressed speculations surrounding his participation in opposition coalition meetings, which recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a platform for the 2027 general elections. Baba-Ahmed confirmed he attended the discussions but clarified that their direction did not align with his principles.
“I am very proud to say that I did attend meetings of certain attempts of a coalition in Nigeria. Morally speaking, if your neighbourhood invites you to discuss security, you must attend,” he said.

“However, if you attend and they discuss other matters outside that, you are at liberty to restore yourself to your former position. I have attended and I have listened to the coalition attempts. Yes, I still remain in the Labour Party.”
