In a significant recognition of his exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to foundational education, the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Dr. Hakeem Shittu Babatunde, has been honored by the Early Childhood Association of Nigeria (ECAN) with the award of Most Supportive SUBEB Chairman.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the award was presented as part of ECAN’s efforts to acknowledge individuals and institutions making measurable contributions to the development and sustainability of early childhood education in Nigeria.

In addition to the award, Dr. Shittu was also inducted as an Associate Member of ECAN, further affirming his role as a national voice in early childhood and basic education reforms.
According to the organizers, Dr. Shittu’s recognition stems from his visible commitment to improving learning environments, enhancing teacher capacity, and driving policies that support inclusive and quality education across Lagos State.

Under his leadership, LASUBEB has embarked on numerous transformative initiatives aimed at boosting access to early learning, integrating technology into classrooms, and promoting teacher welfare.
