The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the body of Mr Ayo Aiyepeku, a photojournalist who was reportedly murdered by his colleague, Oluwapelumi Adebayo.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Superintendent Williams Ovye Aya, disclosed the development to journalist on Monday in Lokoja.

According to him, the remains of Aiyepeku were found on Sunday evening near the WAEC office along the Crusher Zone 8 area of the state capital.
Ovye Aya stated that Aiyepeku was allegedly killed by Adebayo on Tuesday night, July 22, in an office situated around the Government House and GRA axis of Lokoja.

“Yes, the corpse of the photojournalist has been found. It was discovered on Sunday evening around the WAEC office area of Zone 8 in Lokoja. The body has since been deposited at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital,” the spokesperson said.
He noted that an in-depth investigation is underway to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The police are also urging the public, as well as the victim’s family and colleagues, to come forward with any useful information that could assist in the ongoing inquiry.
In the meantime, the family of the deceased has called for justice. Mr Timothy Aiyepeku, the elder brother of the late journalist, and Dr Ibikunle Jide, his uncle, have both appealed to the Kogi State Government and the police to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
