The petitioner filed the case on October 13, 2025, alleging that his former wife continued to live in his residence located at Orange Market, Mararaba, in Karu Local Government Area despite the dissolution of their marriage.
According to court documents, Yakubu claimed that the respondent regularly disrespected and insulted him as well as his parents during the course of their relationship.

He told the court that the marriage produced four children, aged 22, 19, and six-year-old twins.
Yakubu further alleged that although he divorced Mohammed about five years ago, she has refused to vacate his home.
He claimed that his ex-wife threatened that she would not leave the house until she killed him, adding that he now lives in fear for his safety.
The businessman also alleged that the respondent’s continued stay in the house has left him unable to sleep peacefully, as he constantly fears for his life.
He therefore urged the court to hold Mohammed responsible should anything happen to him.
In addition to seeking custody of the children, Yakubu also requested a re-dissolution of the marriage.
After listening to the matter, the presiding judge, Mohammed Yakubu, adjourned the case until June 3 for continuation of hearing.
