Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has commended President Tinubu’s administration for its efforts in significantly reducing criminal activities across the northern parts of the country, according to Vanguard Newspaper.
Ribadu, speaking on Tuesday at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna, stated that instances of banditry, Boko Haram attacks, and communal violence have drastically declined compared to the previous government.
Ribadu highlighted past incidents from the previous presidential regime, noting that Kaduna experienced over 4,000 cases of killings and kidnappings, and more than 5,000 lives were similarly lost during that time.
Ribadu also praised the unwavering dedication of military operatives deployed to the North-West, acknowledging their success in capturing notorious bandit leaders in Zamfara, Kaduna, and Katsina states. He specifically noted their efforts in rescuing 11,259 hostages in the first five months of the year.
The summit, attended by northern governors like Gombe’s governor Inuwa Yahaya and Kaduna’s governor Uba Sani, along with senators, service chiefs, and ministers, focused on President Tinubu’s initiatives to foster socio-economic development and enhance security in the region.
Ribadu particularly commended Governor Sani for his steadfastness in addressing security issues in Kaduna, praising his Non-kinetic strategy adopted in volatile areas like Birnin Gwari.
He further emphasized that the country is currently safer than it has been in the past two years.
