The son of late music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, has paid an emotional tribute to his mother, marking one year since her passing.
Eko Hot Blog reports that t he made the post on his Instagram page to commemorate her one year anniversary.
He shared: ” A year ago today. RIP Mom, July 30, 2024″.

The late icon, Onyeka Onwenu lost her life last year on this very day when she collapsed after performing at birthday ceremony of Stella Okoli and was taken to Reddington hospital where she was confirmed dead.
The musician who was dubbed ” Elegant Stallion” by the Nigerian press is widely celebrated for her immense contribution to the highlife and pop music scene of the Nigerian music industry with albums such as Iyogogo, Ekwe and Choices featuring King Sunny Ade.
Onyeka was also a recipient of many awards including the Best Female Artist at the Nigerian Music Awards (NMA) in 1984 and the Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2013.

She was not only famous for singing, the late musician also proved herself to be a versatile actress while delivering memorable performance on the screen such as her role in the Nollywood movie, Widow’s cot which earned her the award for Best Supporting Actress.
Her influence across music and movie established her legacy as a cultural icon in Nigeria.
Onyeka Onwenu remains a true icon who helped to shape the cultural identity of Nigeria both locally and globally.
