Manchester United and Newcastle United have locked horn in race to sign RB Leipzig striker, Benjamin Sesko when the English Clubs opened talked with the representatives of the Slovenian Striker.

Though initial talks with Leipzig and the player’s representatives have taken place, United are facing financial challenges in sealing the deal. Leipzig are reportedly asking for a fee in the region of £70–£79 million, using Hugo Ekitike’s recent £69 million move to Liverpool as a benchmark.

Despite Newcastle’s attempt to match Leipzig’s demand for the striker and offering a place in the Champions League next season, Sesko continues to lean toward Old Trafford fancying a spell under Portuguese manager, Ruben Amorim.
Although, his preference may have given Manchester United an edge in securing his services, however, the summer spending wrapping up to be about £133M may be a stumbling block for the English heaving weights unless they are able to cash out on the sales of Sancho, Garnacho, and other players on ther sale list.
According multiple reports, Newcastle’s position on going all out for Sesko may heighten if Alexander Isak departs for Liverpool in a deal worth up to £150 million enough to fund the purchase for Sesko.

Elsewhere, talks for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins have cooled due to the striker’s high price tag, while Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson was only briefly considered.
Sesko, who has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for Leipzig, fits the profile United are after. Standing at 6ft 4in with blistering pace, he has drawn comparisons with Erling Haaland for his physicality and style of play.
