Amid the ongoing debate surrounding the renaming of roads and landmarks in Lagos State, the Eti Osa Local Government Area has officially renamed six streets as part of its street naming and revalidation program.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the announcement follows a similar move by the Bariga Local Council Development Area, which faced public backlash after former council chairman Kolade Alabi controversially renamed several landmarks, including the well-known “Charly Boy Bus Stop,” which was changed to “Olamide Baddo Bus Stop” along the Oworonshoki Expressway.

The development attracted criticism from notable individuals, including human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, who called the action “unconstitutional.”
In a public notice released on Friday and signed by the Council Manager, Mrs. Oluwakemi Oshun, the Eti Osa Council stated that the new street names are now in effect.

The council also urged residents, business owners, and the general public to update their records to reflect the changes.
According to the council, the initiative is intended to highlight the cultural and historical relevance of local street names, while improving navigation, urban planning, and identity management.
Our correspondent gathered that Tony Amadasun Road in Igbo Efon has been renamed Chief Femi Pedro Road, while Dr. Udo Wogu Drive in Chevy View is now Chief Adebola Dosunmu Drive. Augusta Orji Street, located off Aro Ologolo Road, has been changed to Alhaji Adio Mayegun Street. In Osapa London, Chike Mba Close has been renamed Hon Sikiru Ashorota Close.
Ugochukwu Orji Street in Igbo Efon is now Barr Wale Sanni Street, and Fubara Dublin Green Street, also in Igbo Efon, has been renamed Rafiu Olukolu Street.
