The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce) has conducted a major clearance operation around the Agege underbridge, seizing 55 commercial vehicles for illegal parking and obstruction.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the operation, led by Taskforce Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele, focused on Danfo buses, Korope minibuses, and Keke Marwa tricycles that had turned the Agege roundabout on Ogba Road into an unauthorized motor park.

After weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathered through the agency’s “See Something, Say Something” platform, the enforcement teams expanded the clean-up to include the Ogba, Iju, and Ishaga corridors, areas long affected by severe traffic congestion.
CSP Akerele raised concerns about the ongoing disregard for traffic laws by commercial drivers, pointing out that much of the congestion in Lagos is avoidable.
“Traffic congestion in these areas is mostly caused by human actions. This operation sends a strong message that we will no longer accept indiscipline on our roads,” he said.

He described the operation as a significant shift in the state’s traffic management approach, focused on reducing travel time, enhancing public safety, and enforcing road regulations.
The Taskforce emphasized that similar enforcement exercises will continue across Lagos to eliminate illegal motor parks and restore order on major routes.
