EKO HOT BLOG reports that however, he urged the president to extend equal recognition to the team’s coaches and technical officials, stressing their strategic role in Nigeria’s triumph.
Speaking during a Sunday service on August 3, Adeboye said football success depends on wisdom and strategy, not strength alone.
“You need a coach to win; coaches have the knowledge and wisdom required to win. If you don’t know how to win, you will lose,” he said, calling for a review of the disparity in rewards, with coaches receiving $50,000 compared to players’ $100,000.
The Super Falcons staged a historic comeback, defeating hosts Morocco 3-2 to claim their record-extending 10th title.
Their victory sparked nationwide celebrations and generous rewards from the federal government. While many Nigerians hailed the gesture as motivational, others, including Adeboye, argued for a more balanced approach that recognises the contributions of behind-the-scenes strategists.
Tinubu’s gesture included three-bedroom apartments for both players and coaches. Yet, Adeboye insisted that planning, analysis, and tactical guidance from the technical crew were instrumental in the victory, likening their role to wisdom that “is better than strength.”

Earlier, coach Justine Madugu received an additional ₦50 million and a house from the Adamawa State government, highlighting varying levels of recognition at state and federal levels.
