A truck carrying sand crashed into the main entrance of the Gombe State Government House on Tuesday, leaving the structure badly damaged.
The accident happened around midday and involved a gate that is still under construction as part of renovation works approved by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya. The facility has not yet been officially opened, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

Witnesses at the scene said the driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle before it swerved off the road and slammed into the gate.

A trader, Musa Abdullahi, said he saw the truck approaching at high speed before it suddenly veered into the structure.
Another eyewitness, Ibrahim Sadiq, noted that the situation could have been worse if people had been walking nearby, adding that bystanders quickly moved away when they noticed the truck heading out of control.
A security official at the location confirmed that the impact caused serious damage to parts of the newly installed gate, which forms part of the ongoing upgrade of the Government House.

The truck is believed to be owned by Tricata Nigeria Ltd, although its registration details were not immediately available.
Confirming the development, Ismaila Misilli said no lives were lost. He added that the driver sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
Renovation work at the Government House is still ongoing.
