A tragic incident has been reported in Benin City, Edo State, where a suspected internet fraudster, commonly known as a “Yahoo boy,” crashed his car into a group of traders. The accident, which happened on a Sunday at the New Market, left three people injured.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Edo State Police Command has confirmed the driver’s arrest and stated that no lives were lost, though three traders were hurt. The injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment.

According to an eyewitness account from a trader named Sandra Osaro, the car, a Mercedes-Benz saloon, was speeding on Second East Circular Road when the driver lost control. Another trader, Mama Ivie, expressed relief that she escaped the crash, as the vehicle destroyed her stand just as she was arriving to open for business.
Following the crash, the police have taken the reckless driver into custody. According to traders, the situation could have been far more tragic, as the incident occurred on a Sunday, which is less crowded than the market’s busiest days for wholesale and retail, which are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
