EKO HOT BLOG reports that the order, issued through a wireless message from the Inspector-General of Police’s Secretariat on December 8, 2025, places renewed priority on safeguarding judges and court facilities nationwide.
The directive, circulated to senior police officers across the 36 state commands, the FCT, and specialized units, stressed the need for continuous protection of judicial officers. Commands that do not currently have Judges Protection Units were instructed to set them up without delay.
Police formations were also ordered to ensure all judges and courts within their respective areas receive full security coverage at all times. Commands were told to confirm compliance immediately, with the message marked “very important” and “immediate.”
This development aligns with the President’s broader security reforms, which include the withdrawal of police personnel from non-essential escort duties for prominent individuals. The move is aimed at reallocating manpower to core policing responsibilities and improving response to national security challenges.

The renewed focus on judicial security comes amid growing concerns over threats against judges and disruptions at court premises across parts of the country.
