EKO HOT BLOG reports that the detachment led to an abrupt halt in the train’s movement, affecting vehicular flow and causing a temporary gridlock on the already congested expressway.
An eyewitness, Oloruntoba Omodele, described the moment as chaotic, saying passengers were alarmed but there were no reported casualties. “All the passengers were taken aback, but thankfully, no lives were lost,” he said.
The Ladipo corridor is known for persistent traffic challenges, and Thursday’s rail mishap added to the concerns of residents and road users who frequent the axis. Many commuters were forced to abandon their journeys or seek alternative routes due to the incident.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene promptly to manage the situation, clear the area, and direct traffic. The detached coach remained stuck on the rail line for more than 30 minutes before the issue was resolved and movement gradually resumed.
