Nigeria’s aviation regulators, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), have announced a joint plan to implement stringent sanctions against passengers who exhibit disruptive behavior at airports.
Eko Hot Blog reports that this initiative is a direct response to a rise in incidents of travelers attacking airline staff and damaging airport property, often due to flight delays or cancellations.

The new measures include the creation of a “No Fly List,” which will permanently ban offenders from flying with domestic and international airlines.

The authorities also plan to prosecute unruly individuals and ensure they pay for any property destroyed. To facilitate this, mobile courts may be set up at airports to quickly handle these cases.
FAAN and NCAA stressed that while they are committed to protecting passenger rights, they will not tolerate violence or the destruction of facilities.
They also called on airlines to fulfill their obligations to passengers during flight disruptions to help prevent such situations from escalating. The new policy aims to ensure a safer and more orderly travel experience for everyone.
