EKO HOT BLOG reports that a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the extension followed a surge in permit applications via the official police portal, reflecting increased public compliance.
According to the statement, the additional time will allow for thorough scrutiny of applications to ensure permits are issued only to eligible individuals in line with national security considerations. It will also enable further fine-tuning of digital and physical verification processes to preserve the integrity of the system and prevent abuse.
The Police reaffirmed that the only authorised application platform remains https://possap.gov.ng and urged Nigerians to disregard unofficial channels. Citizens were also encouraged to report any extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorised processing through the dedicated hotline 09169967000.

The Force commended the public for their cooperation and assured that it remains committed to balancing public convenience with strong security measures.
