Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), has dismissed reports claiming he plans to resign, warning that those responsible for spreading the rumour will face legal consequences.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Musa made the statement on Tuesday after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he said he was surprised by the reports and had no knowledge of their source.

“I am not going anywhere. I have never discussed this. I don’t even know who started that information. But whoever it is, we will take legal action against them,” Musa said.
The minister arrived at the Aso Rock Villa around 3 pm and left after 4 pm, amid speculation about his continued stay in office.
Musa said the rumour was an attempt by some individuals to undermine confidence in the government’s security efforts, arguing that the development came as the military was making progress in tackling insecurity.
“We are surprised. I was shocked when I saw that. I don’t know where that came from. But there will always be people who are unhappy when things are improving,” he said.
He added that security operations across the country were yielding positive results and that some people were trying to create a negative impression of the situation.
The Defence Minister explained that his meeting with Tinubu was a routine security update, adding that the President expressed satisfaction with the military’s performance.
“I just came back from briefing Mr President on the current security situation, and he is very happy with us. We are going to continue doing well,” Musa said.
He also thanked Nigerians for their support and urged citizens to continue working with security agencies in the fight against terrorism and banditry.
According to him, defeating criminal groups requires cooperation between the government, security forces and the public.
Musa was appointed Minister of Defence by President Tinubu in December 2025 after serving as Chief of Defence Staff from July 2023.
