- LASU Senate Calls Off Strike, Announces Exam Schedule
- The Senate has resolved that all academic and social activities would resume on Wednesday, 13th August 2025

The Senate of Lagos State University on Tuesday ended its industrial action following a decision by its Joint Action Committee (JAC) after meeting with Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, last Thursday.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement from Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, confirmed that the JAC approved the resumption of all academic and social activities starting Wednesday, 13th August 2025.

After reviewing updates from the University’s Vice-Chancellor about the meeting, the Senate resolved that all academic and social activities would resume on Wednesday, 13th August 2025. Students are to return to their hostels across the University campuses in Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe beginning that day. Additionally, the 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, which had been suspended, will start on Monday, 18th August 2025.

“Students are encouraged to return promptly and prepare well for their exams,” the statement added.
Recall that the University Senate, at a virtual meeting on Saturday, 2nd August 2025, had suspended all academic and social activities following the JAC of Staff Unions’ declaration of industrial action on Thursday, 31st July 2025.
