Represented by the Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu noted that his administration has, in recent years, focused on strengthening economic prosperity through the T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda. He said the approach remains crucial as the nation moves toward another electoral cycle, a period when discussions around leadership and economic direction often intensify.

According to him, Lagos has deliberately embraced an inclusive economic model. He pointed to the transformation of the Oniru axis from a largely residential and underdeveloped area into a thriving hub for hospitality, real estate, commerce and creative enterprise. He attributed the growth to strategic planning, collaboration with traditional institutions and sustained investor confidence in the stability of Lagos.
“The Oniru Business and Cultural Day provides a model of how leadership can shape development responsibly. When traditional institutions provide stability and clarity of vision, investors respond positively,” he said, adding that tradition and progress are complementary pillars for sustainable growth.
Sanwo-Olu further stated that through targeted programmes supporting small and medium enterprises, digital entrepreneurship, the creative economy and vocational training, the state government is expanding access to opportunities and ensuring broad-based growth. He assured the business community that Lagos would remain stable, forward-looking and open to investment despite the approaching election season.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada-Ambrose, described Lagos as a state built on heritage, enterprise and collaboration. She emphasised the importance of traditional institutions in fostering investor confidence and preserving cultural identity while driving economic transformation.
She explained that the Oniru Business Network provides a platform for dialogue and shared accountability among government, traditional rulers and the private sector, stressing that progress becomes inevitable when these pillars work together.
Bada-Ambrose added that Lagos continues to welcome investment in key sectors such as manufacturing, technology, agriculture value chains, renewable energy, the creative economy and financial services. She reiterated the state’s commitment to strengthening public-private partnerships, unlocking infrastructure financing and implementing regulatory reforms that protect investors while safeguarding public interest.
In his address, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, described the event as the institutional expression of a long-standing vision shaped through years of consultation and engagement within the kingdom.

He said stakeholders consistently advocated coordinated growth, structured dialogue and inclusive prosperity, adding that the Oniru Business and Cultural Day embodies a partnership built on trust, accountability and collaboration.
According to the monarch, the initiative, guided by the philosophy of “Peace Through Partnership,” seeks not only to celebrate culture but also to create a platform where commerce, culture and community development reinforce one another.
