President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his approval for the full formation of the boards for two critical agencies under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy: the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).
Eko Hot Blog reports that this move, announced by the Special Adviser to the President, Bayo Onanuga, is a major step toward strengthening the nation’s communications and digital economy.

For the NCC, Idris Olorunnimbe has been appointed as the new Chairman, while Dr. Aminu Waida will continue in his role as the Executive Vice Chairman and CEO.
Other new board members include Abraham Oshidami, Rimini Makama, Hajia Maryam Bayi, Col Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd), Senator Lekan Mustafa, Chris Okorie, and Princess Oforitsenere Emiko.

Additionally, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, will serve as the Chairman of the USPF board, with Idris Olorunnimbe as the Vice Chairman.
The USPF was created by the government to ensure that people in unserved and underserved parts of Nigeria have access to information and communication technologies (ICTs). The new appointments are expected to help achieve this goal and other national policy objectives.
