Arsenal have reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign captain Bruno Guimarães in a deal worth £75 million, with the Brazil international now close to completing a move to the Emirates Stadium.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the agreement represents a major breakthrough in Arsenal’s pursuit of one of the Premier League’s top midfielders, with Guimarães reportedly granted permission to undergo a medical ahead of finalising the transfer.
According to Sky Sports on Wednesday, “Arsenal have agreed a £75m fee with Newcastle for their captain Bruno Guimaraes.
“The midfielder has been given permission to travel for a medical.”
Guimarães has been a key figure for Newcastle since joining the club from French side Lyon in January 2022. The 28 year old quickly established himself as one of the Magpies’ most influential players and was later named club captain, helping lead the team back into European competition and cementing their status among the Premier League’s top sides.
His consistent performances have earned him a reputation as one of the league’s finest midfielders, with his ability to control possession, win the ball back and contribute in attack making him one of the most sought after players in English football.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has prioritised strengthening his midfield ahead of the new season, with Guimarães viewed as an ideal addition as the Gunners prepare for another Premier League title challenge.
For Newcastle, the deal represents a significant financial return on one of the club’s most important players and marks the end of a successful spell for the Brazilian at St James’ Park.
The transfer is expected to be completed once Guimarães successfully undergoes his medical and agrees personal terms with Arsenal.
