Barely two weeks after being sworn into office, Oluwakemi Rufai, a female councillor in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, has passed away. Rufai, who represented Ward C1, reportedly died after a brief illness.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Sesan Olowa, and the Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Rasaki Kasali, confirmed the sad news on Wednesday.

In separate statements, both leaders described her death as a rude shock, praising her dedication to public service and her contributions to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and grassroots development in Lagos State.

According to the council chairmen, medical experts pronounced Rufai dead on Tuesday, a development that has left both councils mourning the loss of a promising political figure.
