The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has entered into a partnership with GMIND AI to create an artificial intelligence powered platform designed to provide contextualised and simulated lesson plans for classrooms across Nigeria.
Eko Hot Blog reports that at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in Abuja on Wednesday, TRCN Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, said the project would transform lesson preparation and raise teaching standards nationwide.

She announced that the platform will be officially launched on October 6, following the unveiling of TRCN’s redesigned website on August 25, which will feature multilingual video guides. Afterwards, a series of nationwide training programmes will take place for teachers in all six geopolitical zones.
“We want AI generated lesson plans that are tailored for our children. Every lesson will also be simulated because 21st century learners need to see and experience concepts for deep learning,” she said.

Soyombo emphasised that unlike generic platforms, the TRCN GMIND system will incorporate Nigeria’s history, culture, and realities into lessons. “Our children can still learn about the Victorians, but they must also learn about the Ife and Benin Kingdoms at the same time,” she added.
The platform will feature two main resource types: AI generated lesson plans with simulations for digitally proficient teachers, and prescriptive, ready-to-use plans for educators with limited ICT knowledge, ensuring inclusivity.
She explained that the resource bank will cover all subjects and be available online, at state TRCN offices, and in downloadable formats. Lesson content will also be tailored to suit gifted, average, and less able learners, with a focus on practical, hands-on activities.
“This is teachers supporting teachers,” Soyombo said, noting that exceptional educators will contribute to the development of prescriptive lesson plans. She added that reducing the burden of lesson planning will allow teachers to focus on adapting materials to meet their students’ needs.
While the programme is currently designed for Nigerian teachers, it will also be accessible to all TRCN registered and licensed educators.
Dr. Deji Ajani, Director of Strategic Partnership and Innovation at GMIND AI, described the initiative as a flagship example of how artificial intelligence can be applied to education in Africa.
“We are excited to co-create TRCN AI, a customised ecosystem that merges cutting-edge technology with Nigeria’s specific educational requirements,” he said.
