EKO HOT BLOG reports that the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, made this known on Saturday while reacting to the recent Federal High Court ruling which led the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw recognition from Abure as the party’s national chairman.
Ifoh expressed surprise at the celebration by the Nenadi Usman-led faction, which has been jubilating over INEC’s decision. He accused Usman and her camp of playing into the hands of the opposition, insisting their excitement does not translate into any victory.
“Are they not playing into the hands of the opposition? Who benefits from this crisis? Who is the loser? Are Peter Obi and Dr. Alex Otti not actually the losers in all of these? Are they celebrating because they want the party to collapse?” Ifoh asked.
He further argued that both Obi and Otti rose politically through the Labour Party at a time when they were frustrated by other political platforms. According to him, it is contradictory for Usman’s faction to rejoice over developments that could weaken the same party that offered them opportunities.
Ifoh dismissed Usman’s claims as misleading, adding that circulating counter-affidavits as if they were fresh documents amounted to desperation. “Their celebration amounts to nothing. The Labour Party gave them a platform when they had none, and it is unfortunate they are now acting in ways that could destroy the party,” he said.

The party crisis deepened after a Federal High Court on Friday, August 15, ordered INEC to withdraw recognition from Abure, sparking fresh disputes between the rival factions.
