The Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo (Telade IV), has installed six prominent Nigerians with honorary chieftaincy titles in recognition of their contributions to society and commitment to community development.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the colourful ceremony, held on Saturday at the Alara’s palace grounds in Eredo-Epe, attracted dignitaries from politics, business, academia, and traditional institutions.

Among those honoured were Prof. John Obafunwa, Director-General of the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), who was installed as the Balogun of Ilara;
Mr. Jelili Olayemi; Prof. Kemi Pinheiro; Amb. Oluwatoyin Lawal, who was installed as the Bobaguwa of Ilara, alongside his wife, Mrs. Abiodun Lawal, who became the Yeye Bobaguwa; and Dr. Olanrewaju Obasa.

In their remarks, Amb. Lawal and his wife expressed gratitude to the monarch and the Ilara community, promising to support the palace’s vision for progress. “We are committed to playing our part in uplifting the development of this community,” they said.
The honourees pledged to contribute their wealth of experience to the advancement of Ilara, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
In his address, Oba Ogunsanwo said the conferment was part of efforts to draw reputable sons and daughters of Nigeria closer to the throne to support the growth of Ilara Kingdom.

He commended the new chiefs, urging them to remain steadfast in service, integrity, and unity, which their titles represent. “I congratulate all recipients and charge them to use their positions to impact lives positively,” he added.
