The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Thursday, 21st August 2025, for the supplementary by-election in Kaura Namoda South Constituency of Zamfara State.
According to the reports retrieved by Eko Hot Blog, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Zamfara, Dr. Mahamud Isah, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting held at INEC’s state headquarters in Gusau on Tuesday. He stated that all arrangements had been concluded to ensure a credible and transparent process.

“We are mandated by law to conduct this election fairly and impartially,” Dr. Isah said. “We are committed to delivering an election that is credible and widely accepted.”
According to the REC, the supplementary poll will take place in five polling units located in Kyambarawa and Saikajiki wards within the constituency.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) raised concerns during the meeting, alleging that some polling units were left out of the process. The party’s state secretary insisted that the election should not proceed unless all affected units were included.

“There were originally eleven polling units where supplementary elections were to be conducted,” the PDP representative said. “We informed INEC in writing, but we’ve yet to receive a response. Until the rest of the units are included, PDP is not prepared to take part in the election.”
