In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Sanwo-Olu stated that he is convinced Nigeria cannot build the future it wants by relying on oil alone.

He argued that the nation’s true economic strength comes from the crops it cultivates, the goods it produces, and the products it can sell in international markets.
According to the governor, agriculture and non-oil exports provide the most reliable path to create jobs, encourage innovation, and secure long-term growth for the Nigerian people.

He also called on business leaders and policymakers to invest more in these sectors to unlock Nigeria’s full economic potential.
