President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerian youths that his administration will continue to support the growth and development of sports across the country.
Eko Hot Blog reports that he gave the assurance on Friday in Asaba, Delta State, while declaring open the 9th edition of the National Youth Games, tagged “Asaba 2025.”

The president was represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.
Tinubu expressed delight at the turnout of young athletes from various states, noting that their participation demonstrates the strength and unity of Nigerian youth.
He said his administration had celebrated the achievements of the Super Falcons and D’Tigress as proof of its commitment to sports development.

Describing sports as a powerful tool for unity and peaceful coexistence, Tinubu pledged that his government would continue to invest in the sector.
“I am delighted to see over 6,000 athletes from different states participating in this year’s National Youth Games in Asaba. My administration will continue to support sportsmen and women in all fields, just as we celebrated the Super Falcons and the national female basketball team, D’Tigress.
I believe many young talents in football, basketball, boxing and other sports will emerge from here and will be nurtured through our various sports federations,” he said.
The president further commended the leadership of the National Sports Commission, chaired by Shehu Dikko, with Bukola Olopade as Director-General, stressing that sports development in Nigeria is in capable hands.
He encouraged the athletes to remain focused, determined, and to aim for gold as they represent their states in the competition.
