A woman identified as Amaye has been lynched and set ablaze by a mob of youths in Niger State for allegedly making blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident occurred on Saturday evening in Kasuwan-Garba town, Mariga Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the victim, a food vendor, was accused of making offensive remarks at her restaurant after a customer jokingly proposed marriage, citing the tradition of the Prophet.
Residents initially took her to the palace of the District Head of Kasuwan-Garba in a bid to prevent violence. The District Head reportedly handed her over to security operatives for investigation.
However, the mob later overpowered the operatives and killed her before setting her body on fire.

Chairman of Mariga Local Government Area, Abbas Adamu Kasuwan-Garba, confirmed the incident, saying calm had returned to the community.
Spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, also confirmed the development. He explained that the woman was burnt before security reinforcements could arrive.
“Efforts are ongoing to ensure that arrests are made, suspects investigated and prosecuted,” Abiodun added.
